The Truth About GPT 5 (And What Actually Matters)

Eric Thayne
5 min read

GPT-5 is here.

Everyone’s talking about it.

But honestly, it’s overhyped.

Again.

Every time a new model drops, the internet acts like we’re about to hit superintelligence.

Like, your business is gonna disappear if you don’t jump on the latest tool right now.

But that’s not what’s happening.

I love seeing these improvements in AI.

GPT 5 is a step up in quality, accuracy, and ability over 4o.

But most people won’t notice a difference.

Maybe it feels a little smarter.

Maybe it writes a little more naturally.

But it’s not going to one-shot your content or change your life overnight.

I don’t know how many model releases it’s gonna take before people realize the hype cycle is just that... a cycle.

The world isn’t changing overnight.

And that’s actually a good thing.

Why Does This Happen? (Influencers, mostly)

Here’s the thing.

Influencers are just looking for clicks.

That’s the game.

Yesterday, within minutes of GPT-5 dropping, people were posting about how it’s going to change the world.

Most hadn’t even used it yet.

They were just repeating what Sam Altman said on the livestream.

It’s easy to get caught up in the noise.

But if you want to actually take advantage of this stuff, you have to look underneath the surface.

Yes, AI is moving fast.

Yes, there’s a lot of progress.

But if you just look outside, the world hasn't really changed.

Your job isn’t gone.

The world isn’t ending.

The best thing you can do is stay grounded, keep learning, and figure out how to use these tools in your business.

Don’t operate in fear.

Don’t let the hype put you in a panic.

Just keep building.

The Power Is in the Creator

Every model release drives this home for me.

People get excited, then realize the tool isn’t magic.

The technology is already here.

LLMs and generative AI are basically as good as they’re going to get for a while.

Sure, there will be improvements.

But the big shift isn’t coming from the tool getting better.

The real opportunity is in how you use it.

The future belongs to the creators who come up with new, original ways to use these tools.

The growth is in the use cases, not the model itself.

It’s not about waiting for the next big thing.

It’s about building with what you have right now.

So, How Do You Use GPT-5? What Does It Mean for You?

Here’s what you need to know.

GPT-5 is designed to be a generalized agent.

It’s a really good assistant.

It can answer questions, research, help you brainstorm, and support you in a bunch of ways.

But the real power isn’t in GPT-5 itself.

It’s in all the specialized tools that will use it under the hood.

Every AI tool you use is about to get a little better.

That’s the upgrade.

The magic happens when you use specialized agents—AI tools built on top of these models—to do specific things for you.

Like Whisper, my app that takes these models and trains them to write content just like you.

That’s where the leverage is.

You don’t need to do anything special to “use” GPT-5.

Just know that your favorite tools are about to get a little smarter.

And the best thing you can do is keep experimenting, keep building, and keep learning.

How to Write Content with GPT-5

They said on the livestream that GPT-5 writes more naturally.

And it does.

The examples looked a little smoother, a little more human.

That’s a good thing.

It’ll help you write better content, faster.

But here’s the truth: the quality of your content doesn’t come from the model.

These models just have generalized knowledge.

The quality comes from you.

An MIT study showed that AI-generated content is 35% less engaging without human curation.

That means it’s not the AI that makes your content good.

It’s YOU.

Use AI to help you think, not to do the thinking for you.

That’s what Whisper is built for.

It helps you come up with better ideas, do deeper research, and write content that actually sounds like you.

It knows how to write good hooks, angles, and structure.

But the magic is in your knowledge and your unique formula.

If you want to write better content, use AI as your assistant.

Not your replacement.

One Last Thing
