The Truth About Going Viral (And How To Actually Do It)

5 min read

Let’s talk about going viral.

Because whether we admit it or not, every creator, entrepreneur, and business owner wants their message to spread.

We want our ideas to reach more people.

We want our work to matter (getting 3 likes on a post doesn't feel good...)

We want to see the numbers going up.

But here’s the problem.

Most people think going viral is just luck.

Or that it’s about chasing trends, copying what’s hot, or trying to “hack” the algorithm.

But the truth is, virality is a skill.

And if you know how to do it, you can stack the odds in your favor.

I'm not saying you'll go viral every time.

But you will get more views, more shares, and more impact than if you just wing it.

Let’s break it down.

The Two Types of Viral

There are really two ways content spreads.

1. The Classic: Real Virality

This is the old-school way.

Before algorithms ran the show, it used to be that your content would only get shared with your followers.

So the more followers you had, the more views you got.

And if you didn't have followers... well, sucks to be you.

If you wanted to reach new people, you had to get really creative about getting people to share your content.

One person shares with ten.

Those ten share with ten more.

And suddenly, your message is everywhere.

That was the only way you could reach people that didn't already know you.

That’s real virality.

It’s about making something people want to pass along.

2. The Algorithm Era

Then TikTok changed everything.

Now, the algorithm decides what goes viral.

It doesn’t matter if you have a million followers or zero.

If you make a video that’s relatable, engaging, and keeps people watching, the algorithm will show it to more and more people.

Your content isn’t just for your followers anymore.

It’s for everyone.

So the game has changed.

But the fundamentals haven’t.

Because if you know how to capitalize on the algorithm AND make your content shareable...

(and then how to drive leads to your business from the attention)

It's game over.

Let me show you how.

How To Actually Make Viral Content

Here are my top 3 tips for making content that gets views AND grows your business as a creator.

1. Follow the psychologically-proven script

Here’s what most people get wrong.

They try to share their thoughts, their expertise, their story…

But they end up rambling.

(And rambling is a HUGE views-killer)

It doesn't matter how good your ideas are, if you don't package them in a way that works, they won't get views.

So if you want your content to spread, you need to use the right structure.

Here’s my Viral Authority Script.

It perfectly maps to human psychology and why people watch and share.

  • Hook: Always say or do something to grab attention in the first second.
  • Why: Once you have people's attention, show them WHY they need to listen.
  • Point: Share an extremely valuable core message or insight.
  • Invitation: Invite them to take action, follow, comment, or buy.

That’s it.

By the way, I teach this script in-depth in my 60 Second Authority course.

2. Make your content relatable

Relatability is the number one reason people share.

I don't know about you, but my wife sends me reels on Instagram every single day.

And I'd say most of them are another couple doing something funny.

Something we both look at and go, "Oh my gosh, that is SO us!"

It's hilarious/fun/entertaining/interesting because it's relatable.

And if you want to make content that REALLY connects with people, this is the key.

We share what feels familiar.

What makes us laugh.

What makes us say, “I’ve been there.”

If you want your audience to really connect with (and watch and share) your content, you have to:

  • Really know them better than they know themselves
  • Be able to speak in their language (don't be so formal if they're not!)
  • Highlight things they've thought about subconsciously without realizing it

When you do this, your audience will feel seen.

And they will watch and share your content like crazy.

3. Create Curiosity

Curiosity is the #1 secret.

When you learn how to master curiosity, you'll see your numbers go through the roof.

Why? Because a good hook makes people stop scrolling.

But a GREAT hook makes people have to watch to the end.

If you can truly create curiosity in your hook, your viewer/read will HAVE to know what happens next.

This is what keeps them glued to your video, or reading to the end.

And the longer they watch, the better your content performs.

Because the number one metric the algorithm cares about is watch time: how long somebody spends consuming your content.

So instead of:

→ "I was learning about content creation the other day..." (yawn... nobody cares)

Say:

→ "I just discovered a way to go viral and nobody is talking about it..." (ooh... what is it??)

When it comes to getting views, curiosity is your best friend.

Pro tip: Make sure the thing you're creating curiosity for is actually worth it. If you hype up something and then it's not actually interesting... that's called "clickbait". And you will lose your audience's trust in an instant.

Viral Views Don’t Build Businesses

Here’s the thing.

You can make silly, entertaining videos that get a ton of views.

But if you’re an entrepreneur or creator who wants to grow a business, you need more than attention.

You need to turn that attention into sales.

If you want to learn how to make simple videos that:

  • get your message out
  • catch people’s attention
  • and drive consistent leads (sometimes thousands from a single video)

Check out my course 60 Second Authority.

I teach the entire script, how to make the videos, how to go viral, how to edit them with AI, and how to be confident on camera.
