The Psychology of Virality: Why some content wins (but most doesn’t)

At it’s core, being successful online as a thought leader and entrepreneur is all about showing up consistently and sharing your message.

That’s actually it.

Do it for long enough and you’re basically guaranteed to win.

Game over.

But if you want to accelerate that process…

And not just grow steadily, but actually multiply your growth…

If you want your content to actually perform, to get views, go viral, to drive your business forward…

You have to understand the psychology of why people consume content in the first place.

You have to know what makes people stop scrolling, what makes them watch, what makes them take action.

That’s what this newsletter is about.

Today, I’m breaking down the psychology behind content that performs. Why some content gets ignored, and why some content takes off.

And how to make videos and posts that outperform the masses.

So you can you get your “thing” in front of more people faster.

Let’s do it.

The #1 Metric of Success

If you want to understand why some content works and some doesn’t, you have to start by looking at the social media platforms themselves.

Figure out what they want, and then reverse engineer it to get what you want.

So what do they want?

It’s simple.

They want people to spend as much time as possible on their platform.

That’s how they make money.

The longer you’re on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook, the more ads they can show you.

The more ads they show, the more money they make.

So, the algorithm is always asking: Who is keeping people on the platform the longest?

That’s the #1 metric: Watch time.

If your content keeps people watching, and they watch for a long time, and then they go watch more of your content, and then they watch it for a long time…

You win.

The platform will push it to a lot more people. You’ll get way more exposure. Period.

In contrast though, if people drop off after three seconds, and never want to watch more…

You lose.

You’re not getting “shadowbanned”. Your content just isn’t good.

(Not that your ideas aren’t good… you’re just not sharing them in an engaging way)

So, if you want your content to perform, you have to reverse engineer this.

You have to ask: How can I get people to spend more time on my content?

That’s the game.

How To Increase Watch Time

So, how do you actually get people to stick around and spend more time on your content?

Curiosity.

It’s the most powerful tool you have.

Think about those videos you see online that start with, “You’re not going to believe this…” or “I can’t believe this happened…”

You watch. You wait. You want to know what happens at the end.

That’s curiosity at work.

And it all starts with a good hook.

The first line, the first image, the first second of your content.

If you can create curiosity, you buy yourself a few more seconds of attention.

And if you can keep that curiosity, people will keep watching.

They will wait and wait and wait for the answer because they have to know what’s coming next.

If you can master curiosity, you can master watch time.

And if you master watch time, you win.

The Proven “Curiosity” Script

So here’s the framework I use (and teach) for creating content that grabs attention, builds curiosity, and drives action.

I call it the Viral Authority Script.

Because it helps you build authority with your message and get it to the masses.

When people start using this script, many of them instantly see a 3x–10x increase in views on their content (seriously)

Because it’s built on the psychology of why people consume content and take action.

It works for videos, carousels, emails, you name it.

And if you want to master this script, I teach it in-depth in my 60 Second Authority course (it’s 10% off this week and will completely change the content game for you)

But in the meantime, here’s the basics:

The Hook

Start with something that grabs attention and creates curiosity.

A question, a bold statement, or a story.

If it doesn’t get people to stop, it’s not good.

The Why

Before you give away the answer, explain why this matters.

Use a story, a stat, or an emotional insight to build anticipation.

The longer you hold onto the curiosity, the longer people watch.

The Point

Deliver the main value or lesson.

Answer the curiosity you created.

Share a unique and interesting idea.

But don’t give it away before you explain why it’s important.

The Invitation

End with a call to action. Tell people clearly what to do next.

Comment, share, sign up, buy, reflect.

If you do all of this right, you will get tons of people to do this.

Here’s an example of what this looks like:

  • Hook: “Most creators are making content the hard way.”
  • Why: “They spend hours on videos and posts, but almost nobody pays attention. I used to do the same thing, until I discovered a simple formula that changed everything.”
  • Point: “It’s not about being loud or fancy. It’s about saying the right thing in the right order. I call this the Viral Authority Script.”
  • Invitation: “If you want the full script, I put it in a free guide. Comment ‘guide’ and I’ll send it to you.”

This framework is simple, but it works.

I’ve used it on beginner content creators and successful personal brands with millions of followers.

Every time it creates more views, more engagement, and more business results.

How To Grow Your Audience Fast

At the end of the day, growing your audience fast is about 2 things:

  1. Showing up consistently sharing your unique message
  2. Following the script to make your content actually perform

It isn’t about luck.

It’s about understanding the psychology of attention.

If you want to 3x–10x your views overnight, go get 60-Second Authority. It’s 10% off this week only.

Keep creating. Keep showing up.

You’re closer than you think.
